After a night at Delphi, we traveled to Meteora, where some 11th monks, either seriously inspired by their pious devotion or seriously motivated by fear of bloodthirsty invading Turks, built some seriously cool monasteries on top of some seriously high rocks with seriously sheer cliff sides. Seriously.

You would never believe how much I had to bug Kim to take this photo with me. And then beg the guy to wait until I could make her smile (by putting my arm gently around her and threatening to squeeze her shoulder until it hurt).
Does this creepy photo of Kim standing on the edge of the cliff at one of the monasteries remind anyone of anything?

Kim likes this photo because she says it reminds her of an Escher painting. A view of some of the stairs leading up to one of the Monasteries. There is only one way into the Monasteries, and that is the one stairwell that they've carved out of the side of the cliff. The ascent is something crazy, like 1,500 - 2,000 feet.
